About Us

The Nassoons, Princeton's oldest a cappella group, has the pedigree if not quite the longevity of its famed Ivy League counterpart, the Yale Whiffenpoofs. Established in 1941, we have a host of alumni, many of whom have continued their lifelong musical aspirations by establishing or participating in various choruses, choirs, theaters, a cappella groups, and professional musical organizations throughout the country. The group of Nassoon alumni I'm associated with is a particularly close-knit band of 20 - 25 singers from graduating classes between the mid-1950s and the mid-1960s. We've been meeting regularly in a different city for each of the past 24 years for a reunion filled with conviviality, concerts large and small, and just plain camaraderie. Some high points in our past have been reunions at Chicago, Aspen/Snowmass, Longboat Key FL, Bermuda, Seattle WA, Charleston SC (where we performed as a part of Piccolo Spoletto Festival), Scottsdale AZ, Newport Beach CA, Newport RI, Kansas City MO,  Kamuela, HI,  Palm Springs CA, Tucson AZ, Princeton, NJ (twice), Washington DC, Carmel CA, Milwaukee WI,  Online via Zoom (in the Time of Coronavirus), and Longboat Key, FL (20 years later for the 2nd time) !!  Next stop for our 25th Silver anniversary: Charleston, SC.

And now, with a tip of the editorial hat to Eric MacGilvray, Mac Mellor and the Nassoon Alumni Association, here follows a more detailed history of the Princeton Nassoons, of which our '55 - '65 Alumni Group is a small part.
